About I Am That

A kind place for Movement, Stillness & Belonging

Inspired by the Sanskrit mantra so ’ham (“I Am That”), we’ve created a warehouse space in the heart of Collingwood, a place to step out of doing and into simply being.

We were born from a simple belief: that yoga, movement, and stillness should be for everyone. No performance. No pressure. No exclusion. Just space to show up and be you.

Our Intent

  • This studio is a third space.

  • Calm, attentive, professional.

  • A place where people feel seen, supported, and safe to return.

Our Philosophy

At I Am That, we see movement as a way of living rather than something to perfect. Our approach is grounded, thoughtful, and inclusive, placing emphasis on presence, breath, and awareness rather than performance or comparison.

Classes are designed to meet people where they are. Teachers offer clear foundations with optional layers, allowing each person to move in a way that feels supportive and appropriate for their body, energy, and experience on any given day.

Our Roots and Journey

I Am That was founded in 2017 with the intention of making yoga and movement more accessible, inclusive, and grounded in real life. What began as a small, community led offering grew into the Collingwood studio in early 2018, housed in a converted warehouse that reflected the values we wanted the space to hold.

Since then, the studio has grown steadily and thoughtfully, shaped by the people who practice and teach here. While the offerings have expanded over time, our focus has remained the same: to create a space that feels steady, welcoming, and supportive of long-term practice rather than quick fixes or trends.

Why I Am That?

The name I Am That comes from the Sanskrit mantra so ’ham, meaning “I Am That.” It reflects a philosophy of connection and self acceptance, a reminder that we are not separate from our experience, and that practice is less about becoming something else and more about returning to what is already present.

For us, the name speaks to practice as a process of awareness, presence, and integration, both on and off the mat, carried into everyday life rather than confined to the studio.

Our Community

Our community is made up of people from many backgrounds, identities, and stages of life. What connects us is a shared respect for one another and for the space we practice in.

Over time, familiar faces become part of the rhythm of the studio. Teachers and students move together in a way that feels supportive and unforced, creating a sense of belonging that grows naturally through consistency, care, and shared experience.

Our Space

Our studio is set within a light-filled warehouse in a quiet Collingwood cul de sac, designed to feel both grounding and spacious. Every detail of the space has been considered to support ease, focus, and a sense of arrival from the moment you step inside.

Across our studios and wellness areas, we offer environments that support movement, rest, and restoration. Whether you’re practicing yoga, mat or reformer Pilates, or spending time in the sauna, the space is designed to feel calm, functional, and welcoming, allowing you to settle into practice without distraction.
